Neon Run: Lighting the Way to Active Devon’s Brand New Activity Challenge
“It was just a really fun day. I’ll remember it for the rest of my college life!” – Participant
Hundreds of girls and pupils identifying as female took part in a brand new activity challenge organised by Active Devon.
It was a huge success, particularly as many of those taking part hadn’t been keen participants in school sport before getting involved in this new challenge.
School based programmes such as ‘Couch to 5K’ were followed by a celebration event which brought all the Devon youngsters together for a fun day involving a 2K or 5K walk or run and other Birmingham 2022 themed activities. Both distances were open to primary and secondary school pupils.
They also enjoyed designing and decorating their Devon School Games t-shirts with bright neon paints!
Take a look at our event film above and see why this challenge was such a big success.
The School Games Impact Awards
The School Games network does incredible work across the country, which has an amazing impact on the lives of children and young people.
The School Games Impact Awards recognises and celebrates the fantastic impact achieved. There are a number of categories which are aligned to the School Games key outcomes and we’re delighted that the Neon Run Event has been shortlisted within the Commonwealth Games Impact category!
This means we will be considered, alongside other case studies, at the annual end of year Impact Awards. At these awards, one entry is chosen per outcome based upon the greatest impact had on young people and we look forward to finding out more later on in the year!
