Connect Actively with Nature During May – Devon’s Naturally Healthy Month!
Devon’s Naturally Healthy May campaign is all about harnessing the power of nature and physical activity to improve our health and wellbeing. It’s a fantastic time to head outside and enjoy some fresh air and Spring weather. Active Devon’s Tom Mack introduces the campaign in this short video.
It’s all part of Devon’s Naturally Healthy initiative, led by Active Devon and Devon County Council on behalf of the Devon Local Nature Partnership (Devon LNP). It brings together a wide range of partners from health, wellbeing, education, community and environment sectors to encourage Devonians to be happier and healthier through increased connection to nature.
There is clear evidence that being in a natural environment and connecting actively to nature is good for us. Naturally Healthy May offers us all a chance to spend time outdoors with friends and family, learn new skills, meet new people and increase activity levels. So, whether that’s going for a nature walk near to where you live, bird watching and listening to bird song, or swimming in the sea and gardening, there really is something for everyone.

“From chilling in the park to a stroll on the beach or a short walk to the shops, spending time outdoors has been linked to a stream of benefits like sleeping better, less stress, feeling happier, with increased energy and positive mental wellbeing.
In Devon, we have so many opportunities on our doorstep, and Naturally Healthy May is here to make it as easy as possible for people to get out of their home and really connect with the nature around them.”
