How Volunteering Can Make a Difference to Communities and People’s Lives
These two short videos really capture how volunteering can make such a difference!
Natalie has been a volunteer coach at Bideford AFC for many years, coaching children of various ages. Her time, energy and commitment has helped hundreds of children in the community to be active. She says:
“The best bit for me is going home knowing that I’ve changed children’s lives.”
Paul and Guy are founders of Healthscape. Healthscape provides social support and opportunities to enhance people’s mental health and wellbeing in the local community, and all employees, including Paul and Guy are volunteers.
For them volunteering can bring so much joy, to both the people they are helping and for themselves. As Paul says:
“When you put a bit of spare time in and you can change someone’s life for the better, that’s amazing.”
They have run over 500 events and over the past months during the pandemic have helped over 3,500 people.
There are many benefits to volunteering. Having a purpose, feeling connected to your community and trying something new will give you a real sense of achievement. You also get to meet new people and stay physically and mentally active.
Above all, you can make a significant impact and positive difference to our Devon communities, helping people to live happier and healthier lives!
