Swim England has some frightening statistics to report following research into the current situation in primary schools.
    Full Report
This startling headline highlights the recent prediction that in the next five years a million children could leave primary school unable to reach the minimum standards required under the national curriculum.
Swim England are warning of a ‘lost generation’ of swimmers unless action is taken quickly to halt the projected decline in those able to meet the standards on leaving primary school.

There is a Return to Pool Guidance document available here

Other resources are available as Swim England attempt to bridge the attainment gap and by registering with them to access the School Swimming and Water Safety Charter.
These can help and support you to develop a great school swimming experience for the pupils in your setting not just in the pool but in the classroom too! It’s a national scheme developed in line with the national curriculum requirements in both water safety and learning to swim. There is also information about training which many schools will find useful.
