Everyone in Devon active for life.
Working together with those who share our vision of an active Devon, we create, support and promote local community-based opportunities for people in Devon to participate in physical activity and sport.
Active Devon is the County Sports Partnership (CSP) for Devon. We are part of a network of 49 CSPs across England. Our central office is at the Sports Park at the University of Exeter and we also have teams who work from the Life Centre in Plymouth and at one of our partner offices in Torbay.
Formed in 2000, Active Devon’s remit has broadened steadily, providing a vehicle for the delivery of other sports development programmes and initiatives and also promoting the importance of physical activity in its widest sense.
In our early years the focus was heavily weighted towards development of sport for young people. Since 2009 there has been a significant, though not exclusive, shift towards developing participation in sport and physical activity for people over 16. In addition, we have seen a growing development of the links to physical exercise and health – links we hope to build on.
By drawing together sports clubs & community sports clubs coaches, volunteers and the general public from within and beyond the sport sector we try and make sure that the efforts and resources invested in supporting more active lifestyles achieve maximum impact.
We organise training programmes, provide support and advice and signpost and provide funding. Our aim is to provide positive and motivational support to sustain participation.
Funded principally by Sport England, we work closely with the organisation to deliver many of the programmes as per the region’s needs.
